Beige Sauna with Glass End Wall

The details

A glass-walled cabin by the pool

This sauna stands on a travertine patio a few steps from the pool edge. The cabin is clad in beige, textured vertical-groove siding under a single-slope roof with a dark fascia. The door face carries a full-height tinted glass door on chrome hinges, with a long round wooden bar handle. The end wall beside it is almost entirely fixed glass, set back inside a deep frame, so the hot room gets daylight.

Inside the hot room

The walls are vertical tongue-and-groove boards in a pale, knotty wood, and the same boards line the ceiling. Two tiers of slatted benches run along the wall, and the lower bench runs up to the heater. The floor-standing electric heater sits in the corner by the glass, with a stone basket on top, a wooden guard rail around it and a control box with two dials at its base. A round wooden thermometer hangs on the wall, and a wooden bucket and ladle sit by the benches.
