Pale-Framed Grey Shed-Roof Sauna

The details

A glass-fronted cabin for the garden

This build sits in a mulched garden bed, with flagstones laid up to the front and a wooden fence and trees behind it. Most of the front wall is glass: two tall panels split by one wood mullion, set inside a deep box frame of pale wood.

The side wall is clad in light grey siding with vertical grooves. A single-slope roof of corrugated grey panels sits on top, trimmed with a pale wood fascia. You enter through a full-height glass door in the side wall, fitted with a long black bar handle and black hinges.

Inside

Two tiers of slatted benches run along the back wall: a narrow upper bench and a deeper lower one, with room for two or three adults. A compact electric heater with stones on top sits low in the front corner beside the lower bench, where you can see it through the front glass. Knotty, light-coloured tongue-and-groove boards run vertically up the walls and across the ceiling, over a plank floor.
