Patio Alcove Sauna with Long Bench

The details

A glass corner on a covered patio

We built this sauna into a covered patio, on stone tile between two walls of white lap siding, with exposed joists just above its top. Full-height glass runs across the front, so you can see the bench and heater from the patio. Around the corner, a glass door with a long black bar handle and black hinges sits in the end wall, beside a panel of vertical boards.

The solid walls are vertical boards painted cream, and the front glass sits in a matching frame. The cabin stands on a raised base skirted in taupe-painted vertical boards, and a step box sits in front of the door.

Inside

One slatted bench runs the length of the back wall, with room for two or three adults. At the far end, a black electric heater with stones on top sits on the floor. Pale, knotty vertical tongue-and-groove boards line the walls and ceiling, and the floor is wood planks. From the bench you look out through the glass front.
