Poolside Shed-Roof Sauna with Picture Window

The details

A shed-roof cabin on the pool deck

This sauna stands on the pavers of a screened pool enclosure, a few steps from the water. The cabin is a plain rectangle under a single-slope shed roof, with a dark metal drip edge along the roofline and natural wood on the underside of the overhang. Cream vertical-groove panel siding wraps the outside, and light wood trim frames the glass.

A picture window fills nearly the whole long wall facing the pool. A full-height tinted glass door with a wood handle opens on one short end, and a round vent sits high on the opposite end wall.

Inside the hot room

Knotty, light tongue-and-groove boards line the walls and ceiling, and the floor is laid in wood planks. Two bench tiers run along the back wall, with room for two or three adults. An electric heater with a stone basket sits at the far end, opposite the door, inside a wood guard rail. From the benches you look straight out through the glass to the pool.
